“Who we are and what we do are influenced by the stories that we tell about ourselves.
While we cannot always change the stories that others have about us, we can influence the stories we tell about ourselves and those we care about.
And we can, with care, rework or rewrite story lines of identity.”
Retelling the Stories of Our Lives | David Denborough
What Therapy Looks Like With Me
Effective therapy isn’t prescriptive—it’s not about learning a few coping skills to rush back to “normal.” Something as personal as grief, childhood trauma, chronic illness, or a sense of failure deserves more than a one-size-fits-all approach.
In our work together, we’ll explore how your past shapes your present—unpacking the beliefs you’ve carried, how they influence your identity, and the ways you relate to others. We’ll work with the protective strategies you’ve developed over time—keeping those that support you and reshaping those that no longer serve you. This process nurtures agency, confidence, gratitude, and a deeper sense of peace.
Grounded in Narrative Therapy and postmodern thought, I don’t see problems as personal failings, but as experiences shaped by culture, relationships, and larger social forces—each influencing how you see yourself, your community, and your sense of belonging. I strive to be collaborative, transparent, respectful, and curious—walking alongside you rather than taking a central role.
In the midst of all-consuming pain, it’s easy to doubt that talking can change anything. But our work will shift how you see yourself and what’s possible. Together, we’ll uncover moments of strength and meaning, turning challenges into narratives of hope, growth, and restoration—so the future feels less like a fixed path and more like an open horizon.
